In 2015, Divest Harvard staged the first Harvard Heat Week as part of a nation-wide student mobilization effort calling for fossil fuel divestment and climate justice. Now, in 2019, we are re-staging Harvard Heat Week to build up the public pressure for Harvard and its peer institutions to realize their responsibilities to us, the students, and to our larger global community to end their endowment holdings in the industry at the heart of the climate crisis. Join us from April 22nd-26th, 2019 for a week of climate action and education to amplify the call for divestment by Earth Week of 2020! Recent weather extremes, along with the latest IPCC report and national climate assessment, have made it clear that there's no time to wait in combating climate change. The time to divest is now.
