Welcome back! We are so excited to kick off what we know is about to be an action-packed spring semester. Some of our goals for this semester are to gain momentum with the Divest Harvard campaign, culminating in a week long event called Heat Week that will raise awareness about climate justice issues and create pressure for Harvard to divest, and to launch the Sweet Injustice project funded by the Office for Sustainability to educate the community about the injustices within the sugar industry. We also are working on creating and environmental justice coalition on campus, bringing together both environmental and social justice organizations. We plan to host social events that foster discussion, creativity, and fun, including mixers, a poetry night, and an interfaith event. If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to reach out to us at huej.info@gmail.com, or come to one of the events happening in the next two weeks:

  • HUEJ Info Session: January 31st, 7-8pm Sever 110
  • Art Build for Climate Action: February 1st, 3-6pm Carpenter Center
  • First General HUEJ Meeting: February 2nd, 5-6pm Lowell Inn Pechet Room
  • Green New Deal Watch Party: February 5th, 7-9pm Lowell Inn Stewart Room
  • Land Under Siege 3-Day Event: February 7-9th
    • Teach-in on 2/7 from 4-6pm in PBHA Parlor Room
    •  Political Action Rally on 2/8 from 3:30-5:30pm in Harvard Square
    • Organizer Training on 2/9 from 4-6pm in Lowell Inn Pechet Room

Looking forward to a HUEJ semester!!

It's 2019, and we're excited to get this year started! First, we'd like to recap all the great and powerful things that we achieved this past semester. Together, we:
  • Created a state-by-state environmental voter guide for the 2018 midterm elections
  • Relaunched the Divest Harvard campaign
  • Secured funds for the Sweet Injustice campaign to raise awareness for the social impacts of sugar production
  • Led a workshop with the China Delegation Forum
  • Brought Divest and sustainability to the UC presidential elections
  • Passed a UC referendum asking Harvard to Divest from Fossil Fuels (72%)
  • Launched the official HUEJ website
  • Hosted multiple movie nights and social events
  • Became provisionally recognized as an official student organization with Harvard College

As the year starts off, we'd like to let you all know some of our events planned for the beginning of the semester at Harvard:

1) HUEJ Info Session -

2) Art Build - Saturday 2/1 - Location: TBA - RSVP here.
An open social event where we will create a large banner and other posters for this semester's campaigns. Come, meet other environmentally minded people, and FEAST on provided snacks!

4)
3-Day Land Under Siege Event - Thursday 2/7-Saturday 2/9 - Location:TBA - RSVP here.
